ANSA-NA makes it possible to provide on-site water purification for hospitals and other medical facilities now operating with contaminated water.
THE PROBLEMS
People go to health care facilities to solve health problems and to feel better. Yet, globally, 15% of patients develop an infection during a hospital stay. That percentage is much higher in low-income countries.
Imagine how high the percentages might be in a hospital that lacked an improved water source? That is the reality in much of Africa and other lower income areas around the world. Interestingly, “a recent study found that local health clinics have, on average, among the lowest rates of access to safe water than any other entity in communities”.
This situation poses an even greater risk that doesn’t make sense.
In Sub Sahara Africa, there are about 5,000 hospitals and health care facilities. At 38% without clean water, that means about 1,900 are operating, in all senses, without clean, safe water. These are situations where both staff and patients are at significantly higher health risk because of clean water lack and its cascading sanitation and hygiene problems.
Consider the impact hospitals and care facilities have on the surrounding areas. Consider the possibility of contaminated water caused disease transmission. Hospitals see thousands of people annually, of all ages, with all sorts of diseases, from a wide geographic area. They are a hub of activity with spokes going out many miles. Hospitals are the last place one would expect to find contaminated, dirty water and all its associated consequences. Unfortunately, that is the reality in far too many hospitals and health care facilities.
OUR SOLUTIONS
We can provide these essential medical facilities with an economical water purification machine with a rated capacity of 5,000 GPD or up to 20 tons per day of 99.99% pure water for them for only a few cents per gallon. Multiple units can be used to achieve the necessary quantities that may be needed.
Our new SQN watermaker is the model in highest demand for most situations.
The proprietary watermaking machines we can provide operate on diesel generated power, the electrical grid power or solar power. They operate at hundreds of times lower cost than using the standard “bottled water solution”.
These versatile machines are portable so they can be moved anywhere within 300 feet of any contaminated source water. The polluted water can come from streams, ponds, stagnant ditches, bad wells and boreholes, etc. They can even desalinate salt water from oceans, salt lakes, and brackish wells.
The bad water is pumped into the machine, purified, and the output is immediate safe, clean water of up to 99.99% purity. The medical facility staff can immediately use it or store it for future use.
If the medical facility is without electricity or needs additional power, we can provide solar power generation.
The SQN has an internal diesel generator that produces 6 kW electric power. If additional power is needed, we recommend the Solar PowerFold (SPF) solar panel array. These units are available in 9 kW, 27 kW, 54 kW and 108 kW systems.
We hope that we and our Government and NGO partners can make a major impact on millions of lives by reducing the number of hospitals operating without safe water from 1,900 to zero in Africa and similarly elsewhere in the world.
